Sponsor a child
£8 per month will educate a child, provide uniform, shoes and food, exercise books and pens, and exam fees.
Not only does this give a child an education, it gives them food and clothing as well. Many school children are just too hungry to walk to school or concentrate when they get there.
They will have a better chance of employment.
As one young Zambian man told me "Life without work is nothing".
Many children have to forego an education because their parents or guardians (every school has approx 10% orphans) cannot afford even the basic necessities of life such as food and clothing.
Although education is free for children up to the age of thirteen, uniform and shoes have to be bought by parents and exam fees paid for if the child is to progress to the next grade.
All children walk to school, many several kilometres, often on an empty stomach. The schools try to provide a meal of maize porridge (nshima) for the children before the day starts, or mid morning, so they can concentrate on their lessons.
* The children we sponsor are selected after recommendation and careful consideration by a team of teachers and pastors, who also monitor each sponsorship.
