Twinning

Schools are introduced to each other and the twinning usually involves corresponding with a pen friend at the school and presents an opportunity for learning about their lives and cultures.

The Zambian teachers as well as the children are often keen to correspond with their UK counterparts.

Some schools develop the link to include projects and possibly exchange visits in time if they can obtain funding.School high jump

The Zambian schools we work with are very rural.  They have no email facilities and so correspondence is by airmail letter.  They have no electricity or running water and are generally 2 - 4 hours cycle from town and a post office.

For children in the UK twinning often helps to develop an awareness of the wider world and provides an insight into less economically developed countries.

13 schools are currently enjoying twinning links in Zambia and the UK.
