Project 1 - Drilling a borehole at Kabuyu Basic School.
Completed Project Nov 2011 - Kabuyu & Buiketo School Boreholes

After nearly 2 years, these were successfully drilled in October 2011. The geology of the area is such that no NGOs had managed to drill there since 1970.
After failed drilling attempts at Kabuyu in Jan/July 2010, we started to look in Autumn 2010 for someone to conduct an accurate water exploration survey. We found hydrogeologist Jim Anscombe who in April 2011 surveyed the areas at both schools.
He concluded that plenty of water was there; just deep. The conditions are sandy and difficult.
He recommended using a combination of drilling methods, and with this in mind we found a suitable driller, Geotech Ltd.
Jim supervised both projects and the results were beyond our hopes.
Three good strikes at both schools gave above average yields.
Kabuyu: drilled to 109m and yield is 10 litres/sec
Buiketo: drilled to 81m and yield is 8 litres/sec
Project 2 - Toilets & Teachers House at Simatobolo School
The community are making bricks for both of these projects. Only when a basic
teachers house is provided can the school have a trained Head Teacher.
Teachers don't own cars, and the school is too far into the bush for a teacher to travel daily from town. All other teachers at Simatobolo are non-trained volunteers from the community.
When sufficient bricks are ready we can help them with materials to build.
